Janine Richmond is at the helm of the Merricks General Wine Store Bistro. The focus is on modern country (with a hint of French) inspired cuisine and wine-friendly dishes with an emphasis on simplicity, seasonality and flavour.

The Store's casual indoor setting is fun, relaxed and bursting with light. In summer, one of the peninsula's real hidden gems is a table on the casual deck at Merricks, a glass of wine in hand, great company with the beautiful scenic view of Western Port Bay in the background.

Kitchen charcuterie preserves and delicious dishes to create the perfect ‘vignerons’ platter, is a popular choice for lunchtime wine drinkers, as are lighter style salads that pair ideally with crisp and aromatic whites. Janine Richmond’s heartier Bistro meals are enjoyed by those who hanker for a glass of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir.

Merricks General Wine Store has long been renowned for its country breakfasts. As journalist Nick Ryan, Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine says; “Merricks General Wine Store has a kitchen that fully understands that a day spent touring a wine region must be kickstarted with suitable fuel”. The menu combines hearty big breakfasted, healthy cereals and homemade gingerbread, with some of the peninsula's best coffee.

Sublime desserts are served any time of day and are perfectly matched with a refreshing glass of sparkling wine or luscious local Muscat.

Casual and quick snacks and small meals are available in the front room to eat in or take away. We recommend booking for parties of four or more on the weekends and weekdays in the summer.
