PALATE
A complex and balanced palate showing citrus, nectarine, white peach with toasty nutty oak and buttery elements.
VINTAGE
Some challenging weather conditions around flowering reduced the fruit set and resulting yields. Although temperatures across the ripening period were slightly higher than average the day time temperatures were cooler. This allowed for an extended ripening period and together with low yields gives the wine great minerality drive and finesse while maintaining the acidity.
WINEMAKING
A low-cropping year produced intensely flavoured fruit. Following careful handpicking, the grapes were delivered to the winery and whole bunch pressed. The juice was racked to barrel for a wild yeast fermentation in French oak with regular lees stirring. Malolactic fermentation was completed in spring softening the acidity. The wine had 10 months in French oak barriques.
