Elgee Park Family Reserve Viognier
2016 was ideal for the normally late ripening viognier, with the old vines reaching full ripeness early. The grapes are picked once the apricot & orange blossom aromas are evident. Retaining fresh acidity & typical apricot & passionfruit flavours, shows an element of creaminess on the textured palate.

Aromas of apricot & passionfruit.
The palate has ripe apricots but retaining fresh acidity, it shows an element of creaminess on the textured palate, with a fresh flinty finish.
2016 was an unusually dry growing season, but daily temperatures were fairly mild. These conditions resulted in the earliest harvest we have ever had. The berries show intense perfume and great flavour which has produced exceptional balanced wines.
Whole bunch pressed directly to old French oak barrels for fermentation, and matured on lees in barrel with occasional stirring for greater textural complexity. It was racked, stabilised and prepared for bottling in late June.
