Prancing Horse rarely requires an introduction. The estate was the first to convert entirely to biodynamic farming on the Mornington Peninsula and has developed a reputation for great, ageworthy Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. There is an unmistakable freshness and liveliness in their wines, which we can’t help but attribute to the fastidious farming and cellar practices. This is equal parts savoury and fruit-pure, lingering long with immense clarity.
The most awarded chardonnay Paringa has ever produced, the 2021 vintage has collected seven trophies over the past 2 years. The Paringa’ Single Vineyard Chardonnay is the ultimate expression of the unique home vineyard in Red Hill South. It comes from a block of nine rows, which are now 30 years old. The nose is highly perfumed, with notes of grapefruit, lemon zest and flinty sulphides. The complex palate has power, finesse and great length.
Fresh lemon and lime dominate the fruits, however florals equally present with orange blossom and jasmine. The palate supports the nose – elegance, restraint, fresh and pure. It is precise and detailed with a fine gravelly seam driving the core long and deep.
