Lifted notes of watermelon, orange zest with red berries and sweet spice.
Medium bodied with a silky, slippery feel and ends with refreshing red fruits, a hint of spicy blackberry and a touch of grip. This wine is made to enjoy with friends and food.
Some challenging weather conditions around flowering reduced the fruit set and resulting yields. Although temperatures across the ripening period were slightly higher than average the day time temperatures were cooler. This allowed for an extended ripening period and together with low yields gives the wine great minerality drive and finesse while maintaining the acidity.
The grapes were hand-harvested at ideal ripeness for generous fruit flavour, but still with delicate structure. The fruit was whole bunch pressed very gradually to extract a beautiful pale red juice with low tannin, settled overnight, and the clear juice was fermented cool in stainless steel tanks. The wine was clarified and bottled in July, 2024.
