Wine with us on select Friday evenings through Summer, 5pm - 7pm.
This is a series of Friday evenings where between the hours of 5pm & 7pm we open some interesting bottles while providing informal wine education with our accomplished host; wine writer & educator, Ed Merrison.
Each week we will focus on a particular varietal for you to explore & learn about. We will include interesting wines sourced especially for the evening from iconic regions around Australia & the world. While we would love for you explore the wines of our theme each week, you are most welcome to drink any wine from our list or share a bottle from The Wine Nook with a friend. Our kitchen will be open for snacks with Head Chef, Martin Duke designing a special snack to pair with the focus wines of the week.
Being informal in nature, these events are not ticketed, nor are you required to book. We hope to provide you the opportunity to relax over a glass of wine & casually learn a little bit more about wine. Each week the evening will culminate with the opportunity for someone to win a bottle of wine to take home and enjoy.
Friday 16th December 5pm – 7pm. We commence our series with the theme of sparkling wine.
The wines we have selected (which we hope will create great discussion) are; award winning Elgee Park Cuvée Brut 2018, Elgee Park Cuvée Rouge 2018, Chalmers Aglianico Col Fondo 2021 & JmSélèque Solessence Champagne.
Further dates to pop in your diary, with varietals to be revealed at a later date:
Friday 30th December
Friday 6th January
About Ed Merrison
Ed has always been fascinated by connections between people and places. He studied modern languages and travelled extensively on the way to a career as a journalist, at first in print and then in digital media and television. From there he took the plunge into wine to further explore the relationship between people and place, and to share with others the wonders of nature and culture.
This skillset has been given unparalleled potency by specialism in the field. Ed spent almost a decade spearheading the education and marketing drive at top Australian importer and distributor, CellarHand. During that time he judged at wine shows, was selected to take part in the Len Evans Tutorial and was named Australian Dux of the Wine & Spirits Education Trust’s Diploma program, which he continues to teach.
He now runs Vininspo!, a wine education venture that uses all this as a springboard to pour a sense of wonder, discovery and connection into the world of wine. Sticking to the journalist’s mantra of keeping it simple, relevant, relatable and interesting, Ed’s goal is to encourage active participation in wine, fuelling curiosity, fostering relationships, creating memories and building a vibrant, inclusive future.
We would love you to join us!
