Over four Wednesdays in August Merricks Store is excited to be putting on an informal four-week wine course to thoroughly explore the basics of wine. Wine writer and educator Ed Merrison will lead you through key grape varieties and explore the implications of various winegrowing conditions and winemaking choices. You’ll find out why wine smells, tastes and costs what it does and gain insight that will immeasurably improve your experience of choosing what to drink, visiting cellar doors and being around others who enjoy wine. Marco and Michelle Singarella the Founders of vino bambino have been importing wines from Italy for 15 years have just recently returned from Italy and more specifically Tuscany. You will be guided through this stunning region full of culture and history, hearing personal stories from the producers of these wines.

Ooh la la… Celebrate Bastille with Maison By Patrice at Merricks Store! We welcome Patrice Repellin in leading our kitchen team to create a heartwarming, convivial French dinner, for one night only. Book a table with friends and/or family and join us for a celebratory evening, French bistro style. We have also put together a list of French wines for you to choose from, and our full restaurant wine list will be available. For those (like us!) that adore fresh truffles, they’re in season and will be available as an optional extra on the night. French attire is encouraged, but not essential.

Hear the mesmerising tale of Western Port’s Angasi oyster – an ancient food source for the Bunurong People, its near-disappearance in the 19th century and recent efforts to restore the oyster reefs.
